‘Glass sealing & crimping’ move into full production

Although plastic packaging is an essential part of our industry, we all know that plastic has become more & more unpopular with consumers and there is a drive for alternatives that are non-plastic. Glass as a packaging item has been around for many years but has never gone ‘main-stream’ and was always seen as artisan, high value products or non-food items such as cosmetics, etc

This is no longer the case and Seal-it-Systems are pleased to have been selected by a local dairy to work with them on the launch of their first yoghurt range packed in glass jars with aluminium heat sealed & crimped lidding

The initial launch was produced using a semi auto MK3 sealer with a specially designed sealing unit and secondary crimping station. The crimp offers additional seal security and makes the product look extra special to the consumer. Following a successful launch the project has now moved to full scale production with an in-line rotary machine including 2x Riggs depositors for both fruit and yoghurt filling
